                             Should the government make alcohol and tobacco illegal? 

Nowadays, we are living in a world that the society is constantly abusing of drugs, not only the illegal drugs. For example, a lot of people like to drink coffee and also they love eating chocolate, and the science considered that type of things as a drug. As I said, in the 21th century we are constantly consuming drugs but there are the drugs that harm the health so badly, and the others, if we consume them with control, it shouldn’t be harm health.

Personally, I think that the government should make tobacco illegal to all type of people because that’s a drug that affects the consumer and also the people that are around, also it’s bad for the global warm because of the CO2. On the other hand I think that the alcohol nowadays is a bad drug but I think that can still legal because alcohol doesn’t affect the other people directly as tobacco do, so if the consumer wants to drink alcohol is his decision.

So finally I think that the government must make tobacco illegal because of all the negative things that produce to the people and the environment.

Should the government make alcohol and tobacco illegal? 

Alcohol and tobacco have been well seen in our society since they were discovered quite centuries ago. Governments, which could have made them illegal, have not forbidden to consume them due to the money they earn through selling them. In my view, these drugs should be banned because of the following statistical data. 

It is demonstrated by the World Health Organization that these legal drugs cause a year more than 200 milions of deaths in the world and illegal drugs cause only less than 30 milions of deaths. I think that the difference among them is due to the facility to buy alcohol and tobacco and the few useful campaings which exist against the consumption of them. 

Moreover, these substances do not only damage to their consumers, they also harm people around them because, in the case of tobacco, the smoke of it harms our heart and lungs and, in the case of alcohol, drunk drivers can unconsciously run over pedestrians or collide with another car. 

To sum up, I believe that these drugs should be illegal because of the number of people who die every year owing to them and the innocent people affected by its misuse.

Nowadays, governments make many addictive substances illegal because they might harm people’s health and so are alcohol and tobacco but they still legal. The question we need to answer is if the government should make these substances illegal?

As far as I concerned, tobacco it does not affect in your everyday life, in addition it only affects in your health and your pocket. Whereas alcohol creates a huge addiction and makes people depend on these substances in order to become the soul of the party and not being ashamed of their fears.

Furthermore, there are people such as teenagers who tend to drink a lot, just to be part of a friendship group and not let them down.

In conclusion, I believe government should not make alcohol and tobacco illegal. However, it will be brilliant if they create campaigns to prevent people from an excessive use of alcohol and be aware of the consequences.

Black Friday in November has quickly become the biggest shopping day in many countries and not just in the United States, where it originated. Is it a good idea for shop owners to offer large discounts before the Christmas holidays? Do you think it is necessary to have such a day, or is it only a new form of consumerism?

Nowadays, Black Friday has become an important day for society; many people go shopping on the last Friday of November taking advantage of the great discounts. Most people agree with this date, but the real question is “Is it a good idea for shop owners to offer large discounts before the Christmas holidays? Is it necessary to have such a day, or is it only a new form of consumerism?

Personally, I think it is important to have a date on which discounts are made, and more if it is just before Christmas, where people start buying the Christmas presents.

Furthermore, in my opinion some shops raise prices before reaching Black Friday so it looks like there is a discount later, so this is a way to raise the consumerism. I am not saying all the stores do this, but we have to look carefully at prices and look for good deals.

In conclusion, Black Friday is a good way to buy our Christmas gifts cheaper than usual, but I believe it is not necessary to do all the publicity that we do for this day like it was an special day in our life, because this publicity only increases the consumerism.

Nowadays, there is a discussion about making illegal the consumption and sale of alcohol and tobacco, due to it is bad for health. In my opinion, it is a very difficult choice.

I believe that these two substances could be dangerous for people if they make a bad use of it. For instance, many people drink alcohol to be the soul of the party, so this could put in danger to other people like it happens when someone who has drunk, drives. 

On the other hand, I think there is no problem if they are taken with responsibility. For example, it would be acceptable if they drank or smoked from time to time and not in an excessive way.

All in all, in my view people should be aware of the consequences of consuming that and the younger ones should be prevented from doing these actions. Anyway, I think it should not be illegal.

Nowadays, Black Friday has become a world wide shopping day because of its great discounts and helps a lot in our Christmas shopping.

It is clear to me that we need a period or at least a day to buy all our presents we are going to give to our family and friends. Black Friday is a perfect time to get some good bargains and save same money too. Dispite there are far more people than other days, I think it is worth focusing on all the benefits you get in these days.

What is more, to be honest, from the point of view of the shops, they sell strongly more on this date than others and it might be good for some shops that go bad with money because it increases the sales.

All in all, I am of the opinion that Black Friday even if it has turned commercial and consumerist, the initial idea is a really good one.

Opinion Essay

Governments often make many addictive substances illegal because they may hurt the health of those who take them. But alcohol and tobacco may also be dangerous to a person’s health, and they are legal. Should the government make these substances illegal?

Drugs have been among people since the first known civilizations. Some drugs very common like coffee, tobacco, alcohol or even medicine have always been legal and socially accepted. Legal drugs have usually been linked to business where the government took part. But in my opinion some other drugs, that are less harmful than almost of the legal ones, should be legalized in a regulated manner. I do not think forbidding substances like tobacco or alcohol is a clever solution.

Most people take drugs like coffee or tobacco very frequently to be unstressed and awake in the daily and boring routine. From my point of view giving people the free will to choose what substances they consume is imperative in our society as long as they know the effects of them. However some substances like hard drugs or very dangerous substances should not even be in the market and the government should ban them. Nonetheless, in my view, drugs like cannabis, which contain high quantities of CBD (a potentially healing natural compound), should be legalized with a regulation of the state just as in countries like Canada or the Netherlands. The biggest problem with this drug usually is the toxins introduced in the black market, but with a regulation from the government this problem would be solved and less people would suffer its consequences. Furthermore it would be an important economical increase.

To sum up, from my perspective free will is crucial with drugs like tobacco or alcohol while some others like cannabis should be legal. Even though it would require a high regulation so that it is beneficial in the end and everybody could enjoy them safely.
