Dialogue - Inés Galmán

Abie and David are discussing about the rights and wrongs of Information and Communication Technology as a school subject.
Abie: The director sent us an email yesterday informing us that he wants to incorporate a new subject about of Information and Communication Technology.
David: Yes, I read it. What do you think about it?
Abie: I think that this new subject can teach students to interact with other people on social networks or in forums in a responsible way. Don’t you think?
David: Yes, but it can distract students.
Abie: Yes, I know but … It can also keep students informed. People don’t buy newspapers and are informed from the internet.
David: I agree with you. However, this way of teaching can become impersonal and cold since you won't be in contact with classmates and teachers.
Abie: Are you completely sure? In online education, each student is responsible for their learning process, so it can be a good way to reinforce each other's initiative to continue studying and learning.
David: That's a good point of view.
Abie: Yes. Moreover, the skill of development is another point to consider. Among them, the ability to search for reliable information on the network is worked on.
David: You’re right. Although the permanent use of technology can have various consequences for our health, among which short-term memory loss stands out. Because having all the information stored on mobile devices prevents us from having to think or try to remember.
Abie: Of course. I think that ITC can have good things and bad things, but the important thing is to reinforce the advantages.
