Music piracy
Music has been one of the most popular kind of art worldwide since human beings exist and it has made earn money for a lot of people, such as musicians and producers. However, since the beginning of the internet, some users have wanted to acquire and listen to music for free and it has caused a controversial dilemma about pirating music or not.
On the one hand, piracy makes music more accessible to people who cannot listen to it due to their lack of money or their outrage by the high prices of it. Furthermore, it helps musicians and singers grow up in the industry because of the popularity it can obtain when it is expanded via Internet.
On the other hand, a report done by EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) showed that there are more than 170 million euros in losses a year because of its piracy. Moreover, according to INTECO (Instituto Nacional de Ciberseguridad), the 30 percent of illegal downloads contain some type of malware, such as a trojan or an adware which are able to break your computer down.
As we can see, although piracy is a good way to listen to music for poor or indignant people and it helps composers and singers to increase their popularity, it steals money from producers and it can contain virus which damage computers.
