Nowadays, a big part of the society can speak two or more languages either they were born in a bilingual country or they choose to learn more languages. In our globalized world, speaking two languages has many benefits but everything have advantages and disadvantages, so what are these advantages and disadvantages of being bilingual?

Many experts claim that being bilingual helps you to learn faster; this is because your brain is constantly active in the two languages, this means that your brain make constant exercise that help to strength other different cognitive aspects. Furthermore, being bilingual makes you more competitive in working world, benefit you when you have to travel, and helps you to interact with other countries.

However, if you speak one language, you control perfectly that language but if you are bilingual, you can mix the two languages you speak, so this means that you don’t control perfectly one language. For example if you want to express your opinion and you mix words or expressions of the two languages, your idea can be bad explained and maybe can confused the other person who are listening you.

To sum up, being bilingual can help you in many aspects but can affect you in the learning and developing of each languages. In my opinion, the ability of speaking two languages has many benefits and opens you a big world of opportunities.
